Opus Majestic began when founding member Ash Durrance started rehearsing with drummer Eric Bausch in 1998 as the project Hobgoblin. Then in 1999 the first show took place with addition of Stefan Durrance on keyboards and guitar, and Matt Strom and Rocky Mattazaro on vocals. Shortly after a couple demo's were produced and many live shows to follow between 2000 and 2004.

The first album, "Temptation Of The Ring" was released in 2002 on By The Blood Records and Sword Of Fire Productions, with Matt Strom on vocal duties. Then with creative differences in 2003, Opus Majestic became its infamous 3 piece black metal outfit, with Ash Durrance on Vocals, guitar, synths, and Stefan Durrance on Guitar, keys, and Eric Bausch on drums. The 2003 album "Awaken In The Land Of Dreams", was highly praised in reviews in the european and north american underground metal circles. Then in 2004, "The Pain Of God" was released in Germany, Norway, and North America and quickly was sold out in limited release.

After several years of hiatus, Opus Majestic released, "Ewiges Licht" EP in 2010, and thus began the new journey incorporating industrial/electronic elements into the black metal ambience. In 2011 the "Five" album was released, a culmination of high experimentation in this evolving sound and included remixes from international artists in europe and north america.

In 2014 Ash Durrance passed away but not his legacy and vision for the artform Opus Majestic, so in 2015 a special compilation was released from the Netherlands, "Wandering Thy Sacred Path In The Land Of Dreams", by Jorik of Revived By Light. Shortly thereafter remaining members Stefan Durrance and Eric Bausch contined forth in the rehearsal studio working on new musik, releasing "Footfalls Amidst The Darkness", an ambient side project originally from 2003, rereleased with new tracks and remixing by Lord Charles of Fortress Studios, and new artistic designs of Alexander Triesch of MindDesign, Germany. Many new journeys await as a new album is due to be recorded in 2017
